In 2021, Índigo was born with the mission to empower women with unique pieces featuring sublime weaving, flattering silhouettes, and a story to tell.

In Bolivia, there is a cultural gap between rural indigenous populations and urban residents. Our mission is to mend this gap by weaving craftsmanship into our cities and introduce our culture to the world, proudly and united. Through a wide range of weaving techniques, we showcase the millenary savior-faire of the indigenous communities that inhabit our land from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon Rainforest. Each one of our pieces portrays the biodiversity of the surreal landscapes of our nation, telling an authentic story about what Bolivia has to offer. In this way, we craft what we envision as true luxury.

About Alison & María Teresa Roca

Alison Roca, CEO & María Teresa, Creative Director at Índigo.

Alison and María Teresa are sisters and partners united by a common purpose. They grew up in Trinidad, a small town in Bolivia where basic amenities, such as electricity and clean water. are considered luxuries. After moving to the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, they became renowned models. Immersed in the local fashion industry, they noticed a scarcity of unique products showcasing a Bolivian identity. This inspired them, in 2021, to embark on a journey across their mesmerizing homeland to connect with indigenous populations. In the highlands of La Paz, they met María, an Aymara leader who welcomed them into her community and shared the revered weaving techniques of her ancestors. Nowadays, in collaboration with various local communities, the sisters design captivating garments that stand out in the urban scene, telling the story of their land and its people. Such is their mission.
